What does gender+ mean?
The plus in gender+ is an invitation to be curious about the complex ways in which gender dynamically interacts with “race,” class, sexuality, (dis)ability, ethnicity, religion, and citizenship status (among others), in shaping human lives and inequalities in contemporary society.
How can we plan sustainable agri-urban systems in an urbanised world?
Rapid urbanisation is one of the greatest challenges affecting global development efforts toward sustainable development goals. Such goals include agri-food systems that are locally available, healthy, safe, as well as physically and economic accessible to all urban dwellers with the least environmental impact.
Findings from inspiring bottom-up initiatives
ACCTING has published a report on these inspiring practice cases of bottom-up initiatives, examining their types and characteristics. The mapped initiatives are described according to ACCTING’s eight research lines. For each of the following research lines, an analysis of the bottom-up initiatives highlights common themes of implementation, justice profiles and specific barriers and drivers.
What does bottom-up mean?
Bottom-up usually refers to citizen-led activities where citizens collaborate and themselves keep control of the aims, the means, and the actual implementation of their activities.
Co-creating innovative solutions: ACCTING to hold its first Open Studios
As ACCTING’s first project cycle is coming to an end soon, the team is organising the first set of Open Studios, taking place in March and April 2023.
What does circular economy mean?
Circular economy refers to a system that encourages the reuse, recycling and refurbishment of products and materials such that there is minimum use of primary resources. The aim is to establish environmentally friendly production and consumption behaviour by minimising waste generation.
What does transport poverty mean?
Transport poverty refers to the ways in which socioeconomic conditions affect everyday mobility and people’s access to transport. If someone is transport poor, it means that a person lacks mobility recourses to access work, education, health, and social networks.
What does behavioural change mean?
Behavioural change defines a change in the behaviour of an individual or a group. This change can be temporary, long-term, or permanent. The question of behavioural change and, more generally, changing lifestyles is a key issue in the ecological transition.
